Four stars?? Are you kidding me? Maybe if you spend all your time at the beach and away from the actual hotel but other than that, no way! The rooms are old, worn, dirty and in desperate need of a renovated. The staff is the only thing that save this hotel...and the fact you're in Hawaii. Other than that, Im pretty sure a two star would have rated higher on my list.

i don't know what the people are talking about saying this place smells, rooms are crap, etc. this is by far the nicest hotel i've ever stayed in. we were there right in the middle of the ownership change.. the restaurants were a bit sketchy... they moved them around a little bit, but how often do you eat at a hotel restaurant? the beach was great, private... areas to snorkel, easy swimming, no big surf or rip tides at all. the rental equipment (snorkels, boards) were a bit spendy... i could've gone into kihei and bought a snorkel for what they rent them out for per day... but the convenience factor of it being the southernmost hotel in wailea/makena. definately get a rental car if you stay here... they have shuttles to the shops @ wailea... but it's too expensive to shop there for the average person. ABC store though there to get some food to stuff in your fridge. please disregard these negative reviews in the past... the place doesn't "stink"... the hotel is outdoors with a HUGE garden area that puts off some of the smells... mostly plumerias and jasmin flowers. if you don't like those scents then go to florida. 100% reccommended. rooms were great, we got a free upgrade to a prime ocean front or something along those lines... it's not really ocean front in my eyes... oceanfront is spitting off your balcony into the water... but its views are great. how much time do you spend in your room anyways? pool was a bit small, but there's a few trillion gallon pool about 30 feet away from it.

GOT TO THE HOTEL LATE, GOT UPGRADED WHICH WAS NICE. HOTEL STAFF WAS VERY NICE BUT WHEN WE GOT TO THE ROOM IT LOOKED OLD AND DATED. EVERYTHING TO THE DECOR TO THE DIFFERENT ROOM AMENITIES (MIRROR, BLOWDRYER, COFFEE MACHINE, ETC.) WALKED AROUND THE HOTEL TO FIND COBWEBS AND SPIDERWEBS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE HOTEL GROUNDS. WE HAD JUST STAYED AT THE WESTIN MAUI THE NIGHT BEFORE FOR THE SAME PRICE AND WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PRINCE.

The staff was excellent! The beach was wonderful, you could use the resorts hotel towels at the beach and they provided lounge chairs on the beach. There is a charge for umbrellas and other gear available at the beach. The beach itself has to be the one of the best in the world. When the ocean is calm, it's a clear turquoise blue... you can usually find a turtle when your snorkeling... there is coral on both sides and out in the middle.... otherwise the beach itself is a nice sand... and most of the swimming area is sandy too. There are tide pools off to the left. The grounds to the hotel are beautiful and the zen garden and surrounding gardens are very well maintained. While this hotel is not as fancy as the Grand Wailea... it's less busy too. It's the last resort in the southern resorts, so it's quiet, less traffic, wonderful. There is small pool and a kids pool... and two jacuzzis too. Plus a weight room, store, breakfast/coffee bar, restaurants... we ate a lot at Cheese Burger Island at the Shops at Wailea... we can't wait to return... Aloha!

The Maui Prince is gorgeous from the moment you step foot into the courtyard. The service is outstanding & helpful. It is a very quiet place, few kids, you feel like you have the place to yourself. There is great snorkeling directly at their beach. We would absolutely stay again.
