The deluxe ocean front room was just great. The room was large and very clean. The bathroom was nice and clean , but it could have been just a bit bigger. Pool nice , but needs a outdoor pool too.. loved it would stay there again. Great location.

Not satisfied with this hotel. When we made reservations for this hotel in March it stated that it had an outdoor pool, however when we arrived last week for our vacation, there was no longer an outdoor pool. We were never informed of this and the website was not updated to state that there was no outdoor pool until just recently. Even the books inside the room stated there was an outdoor pool. When we tried to get out of reservation due to the fact that there was no outdoor pool as stated, hotel was going to charge us one night stay; very disatisfied! Also, our bathroom was so small had to close the door in order to use the restroom and/or shower.

Location was great. The staff was courteous but english was largely a second language and a typical response was ;we don't have this. The back alley through which you check in to the hotel is used for dumpsters for the numerous restaurants that are adjacent. The alley was filled with greasy slime upon check in but dry-sorb was put down and eventually it dried up. Some smell lingered. It is nice to have the restaurants close by but stay on the boardwalk side. Beds were double beds which are small for adult couples. We had 2 rooms, non-adjacent, with side balconies. We could see a small corner of the ocean but most of the view was the wall of the restaurant next door. No fitness facility but there is bike rental adjacent.

We booked an oceanfront room for three nights. We arrived and were given a room on the second floor. Our balcony was right over an awning and when you sat on the balcony all you could see was bird poop, trash and cigarette butts, not the ocean. It is a non-smoking hotel, but for some reason you can smoke on the balcony. As I was standing there, cigarette was dropped from one of the rooms above and landed on the awning right in front of me. I spoke with the front desk and was told there were no more oceanfront rooms. We eventually settled on a room on the street side with an ocean view. Next time we will definitely pursue other accomondations.

Heading to a shore town in January made booking a hotel easy. Seems like all the hotels were competeing for my business offering ridiculously low rates and after visiting I can understand why. Had to go there for business. I booked this particular hotel because it had an on-site restauraunt and a heated indoor pool & jacuzzi. An added bonus was that it was right on the boardwalk with a beautiful view of the beach. The room was clean however the bathroom was rather small. Had some issues with my first room & a stubborn door, but they moved me to another room without any problems. The only thing that was disappointing was that the restaurant was closed during the off season. Actually almost everything is closed in that town in January. I wish the hotel site had mentioned that it was unavailable. I am happy that I stayed at the HJ Plaza and it was worth the price I paid ($* for an upgraded room). However I would not pay the the over-the top prices to stay here in the summer. For $* it was just fine. I go back again in the off-season.
