This hotel is located in Hyde Park. If you do not have a car this location is not for you. There is a regular city bus line within walking distance...a few blocks away from the hotel, but during the evening this location is desolate. Taxis wait outside of this hotel, and there is a shuttle, but be prepared to pay for this convenience. The shuttle costs $60/trip to O'Hare. The staff is courteous, but the House Keeping Staff is eager to clean your room bright and early. If you are on vacation and like to sleep in this is not the hotel for you. A "Do Not Disturb" sign did not prevent the noise level from the housekeeping staff from penetrating the walls of my room. The front desk staff was cordial, but I had to ask for the parcel that was delivered prior to my arrival...the clerk did not intially tell me that it had arrived. If you get a room near to the pool and restaurant...there is the occasional band in the restaurant that can be quite entertaining. if your room faces the nearby highrise and the street, you can hear the cars on the nearby highway, sirens, and motorcycles zooming by. I returned home more exhausted than when I arrived.

We had a very difficult time finding a parking place anytime we left b/c of the facility's booking of wedding receptions and it's night club which was heavily patronized by non guests. After booking for 2 nights upon arrival, we were locked out of our room on the afternoon of the second day b/c the cleaning staff thought we left a day early b/c we had not left any of our valuables in the room. We had to trek up and down the stairs and quite a distance to the office (with our luggage) to get a new key to get back in. The desk person was on her cell phone when we arrived at the office and, instead of getting off and doing her job, she instead, turned her back on us and continued her personal conversation, eventually disappearing into the back. When sh did finally acknowledge us, she said we should always leave our belongings in the room when we go out or the staff will think we checked out (even though we paid for 2 nights) and then change the key combination. When we got back into the room, half a day after leaving in the AM, we discovered that the room had not been cleaned--no clean towels, beds not made, etc. We called the desk and they said they would get a maid up immediately. We left for a few hours and when we returned, the room was still not cleaned. We called the manager, but she was unavailable. We were told she would call us ASAP. Guess what. She never called. Never did get the room cleaned. When we checked out we took the matters up with the desk clerk who was absolutely unsympathetic with the situation and could not find the manager.

My family has a tendency to get lost if we travel more than 50 miles from our house so going to Chicago was definitely going to test our sense of direction. We asked the staff at the front desk every day for directions on how to get places (which I am certain was pretty annoying) but they cheerfully helped us every single time and gave us easier directions to follow than the internet ever did. They had bus schedules figured out and everything. The rooms were fairly comfortable and aside from another guest deciding that 4am is the perfect time to start slamming doors it was a restful visit.

My husband and I took our grandson to Chicago to visit friends/famiy and the museums, etc. We were very happy with our stay at the Ramada. The young lady at the front desk allowed us to check in early. Our room, tho small, was clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job in our room while we were out. The pool was unavailable the first day of our stay due to a storm the night befor, but the staff did a great job cleaning it and we were able to enjoy a good swim! The view is excellent (Lake Shore Drive) and just a hop, skip and jump to the museums, planetarium, aquarium and downtown. I found the staff at the front desk to be friendly, courteous and helpful. I hope to stay there again. Thanks, Ramada, for making our trip so pleasant!
