I was looking for something inexpensive in the heart of Chicago's North Side for a single night's trip into the city, and I came across this boutique hotel. It wasn't quite as inexpensive as I'd hoped for, but it had a funky, historic charm that was a nice antidote to the bland, identical chain hotels I've stayed in. The decor was attractive, I didn't mind the very small size of the room (if I'd had kids with me, it would be a different story), and I liked the toiletries provided. The display of "convenience snacks" or whatever they were called was a little bit more aggressive than necessary, I thought. I'd probably stay here again, though I might prefer its sister hotel, City Suites, which has a more contemporary decor and is closer to the L.

This is my 4th or 5th trip to The Willows. It is a lovely, quiet hotel. It has old fashion charm and is located in a neighborhood setting, but close to restaurants and great shopping in the Lakeview area. We stayed in a double room, beds are very comfortable. We were on the first floor and we could hear some people coming in late, but it wasn't bad. The Chicago marathon was going on that weekend and we walked to the end of the street to cheer on the runners. They have a very nice breakfast: bagels, fruit, danish, oatmeal, cereals, sausage bisquits, yogurt, etc. Coffee and tea and fruit are always in the lobby. And the lobby is manned 24 hours with pass key entrance after 9pm, so its very safe, too.

I spent a week here on business. I loved this hotel. It was warm, quiet, and convenient. I felt like an honored guest here. Greeted every morning and everynight by the very attentive staff. Hot coffee and cookies on my return after working 12 hours and walking several blocks was wonderful. My room was big, comfortable, and quiet. The closeness of this hotel to everything was wonderful. I loved this hotel so much I booked the next week to return for 2 more days of work. I came by train from OHare and cabbed in from the Belmont Blue Line Station. I was able to walk to work everyday and numerous restaurants everynight. I should mention I am a middle 50s woman from the midwest so this should say a lot about the safety and security I felt here. This hotel reminded me of when we of when we lived in Europe. I would choose this hotel hands down anytime.

The Willows Hotel reminds one of a hotel in the UK, a nice change from the run of the mill chain hotel. Small, with a friendly staff, continental breakfast, and coffee/tea in the lounge 24 hours. Excellent choice if you're going to be on the North Side in the Lincoln Park area.
