Although Hood River is a tourist attraction esp on wknds, this BW is 'the only game in town' currently, as the grande dame Columbia Gorge Hotel has closed. A few shabby motels otherwise, and HR Hotel downtown is off-putting. The BW does not feel new. Room was well maintained -- must upgrade to river view in wh case, view is great. ""Beach"" into river is unadorned --bc only the brave wd go into the river: rocky-rocky underfoot and scarves of algae. Pool is OK but needed maintenance: full of hair (yuck). Included breakfast was NOT run of menu, just a credit w/ a few choices; no buffet option. Place needs competition !

If anyone is interested in getting a good nights sleep do not stay at this hotel. People checked into their room which was next to ours at 2:00a.m. and kept us up the rest of the night. First they tried to come through the connecting door between the two rooms and firghtened my daughter. When the manager asked them to be quiet they became more loud and obnoxious. I would not stay here again even if it was for free!!!!

Room was very lovely with double vanities that had grantite countertops. The view was relaxing and beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The room was a great price. I would give the room and A+, however the on-site restaurant deserves a C-. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was overpriced and tasted terrible. The salad and the dessert I ordered was inedible.

We seem to have been in a newer building at the hotel, so you might try asking for that part. The room was large, two sinks, good shower, large refrigerator, microwave. It was new and clean and the beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The restaurant was good and we sat outside right next to the water. There's a pool with a jacuzi. The staff was nice and friendly. Bonus: there's a Starbucks in the same parking lot. The location was good because we drove to the west one day and did some things and to the east the next day and did some more things. We were all happy we stayed here.

We did not know that you needed to ask for the West side of the property so we ended up in the older half. It was still worth what we paid but the West side is the same cost and newer. Either side provides a great location and from the river view side (must be requested) is fabulous and worth the extra dollars. The motel provided a pleasant stay at an affordable price in a beautiful
