We spent 2 nites there before a Holy Land 12 day cruise. The staff was sooo helpful and friendly. All spoke fluent English. And it was very clean. We had a great view and their breakfast was fabulous. Be sure to try the Greek yogurt.

The Athens Gate has a great location, with in walking distance of Acropolis, Parliment and Plaka! Who could ask for more? The rooftop breakfast was delightful and very generous. Many different choices and delicious coffee. The best coffee I had on the trip. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the rooftop after walking all day, and watched the sun set next to the Acropolis. The hotel has great views of the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus. We walked into the Plaka area for dinner and had so many good choices. The changing of the guard at the Parliment was so colorful and the guards quite handsome. The hotel was modern, with clean, nicely appointed rooms. The air conditioning worked well and we would recommend this hotel to visitors of Athens. We were there only one night, as we were getting on a Greek Isle cruise, so we arrived about 10 am and were given our room. Athens was very clean, but very busy with many tourists. We did not have any trouble with pick pockets or beggars, but we heard stories from friends and were very vigilant. The people were friendly and the hotel staff very helpful. I would recommend this hotel and we felt it was a good value. We did not op for rooms facing the Acropolis but our view of the Temple grounds was nice.
