  We chose this hotel because it had a pool and paid a higher price than a hotel down the street which we had stayed in on our previous trip through town. I was really disappointed--the pool is real old--it was clean and warm but it felt like a pool in a enclosed area. There were no decorations and the hot tub had been filled in with cement. The hall carpet was older and needed to be restretched. However the biggest problem is the noise--we had two rooms and in both rooms you could hear the people above you walking around . The construction must be very poor. The icemaker was outside our door and we could hear it as well as people in the rooms beside us. The employees were nice.

  I would say, if your worried about just getting into a hotel to sleep and go, this is the place, but if you want a nice room, nice pillows,nice pool,& updated look and feel, this is not the place, although there are not many choices in the city of Mason City, this place gets one star from me. I also heard a guy complaining about mold in his room to the front desk, and a lady complaining about the smell, so take your chances if you will.

  Nice hotel but it's ONE block from an active train track crossing. I was woken four times by train horns and I was near the far end of the hotel from the track. First train wake up was around 2:30am. Don't stay here unless it's your only option or you sleep like a rock.

  There was a musty, damp smell throughout the hotel. As soon as you entered the doors, you could smell it. I thought the room might be better but it wasn't. The staff was okay but not overly helpful or friendly.

  This hotel is next door to the fire station and has a railroad track on the other side. The fire trucks went out twice in the night and the trains started running at 5:30am.
