A good experience. Hotel is a diagonal block away from the Trolley stop. The trolleys to Beale St. are a buck and each is a different antique. Fun and charming. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and had good local advice. Some low level maintenance items were needing attention, but that seems true in most hotels this year. Request a river view room if you can. They have large picture windows and the river is a busy place and just fun to view. It is 1/2 block to monorail access to Mud Island Park. Nice museum there and a great place to run energy off of kids. Leonard's Barbecue is in the same block and is good, cheap, but only open weekdays. The hotel breakfast room is large, nicely laid out and serves enough to get you off to a good start. The coffee is good! If you need a big breakfast or lunch, the Blue Plate Cafe is 2 1/2 blocks away on the south side of Court Square. Big plates of southern cooking and inexpensive. All in all, we liked it and would go back.

We chose this hotel for the great location. The room was clean and nice (tho we didn't see the recliner that's supposed to be in every room.) All was well until breakfast. The dining area was fairly busy and several homeless people were eating in there with the paying guests. (Their filthy clothing and matted hair was a dead giveaway.) I'm sure the city has shelters and kitchens to feed street people. It was a real turn-off to have them crash the breakfast room. Yes it's free-- to PAYING GUESTS. There were plenty of staff people working to refill the food and keep breakfast running smoothly. I saw at least three, plus the front desk staff was only a few steps away. What a shame that they didn't take the situation in hand and ask the crashers to leave. I felt like guest comfort and security was a low priority in this respect. I wonder how much of what I paid for my room went to cover the extra food lost to homeless people who come in and steal breakfast. On my next visit to Memphis, I'll stay elsewhere.

We stayed 5 nights and walked everywhere. The trolley, bus system and everything you want to do is within walking distance of this hotel. If you want to see Graceland or Sun Studio, you can catch a free shuttle at Rock'n Soul Museum. This hotel also had a complimentary full choice breakfast every morning...not just stale bagels and coffee either! Staff is very friendly. This isn't the Wyndham, but it's clean, affordable and in a great location!!
