Our family stayed here for the last series of the Tiger season. Everything was great! The rooms were large, including the bathroom. The beds were real soft (my husband thought too soft). Everything was clean. The staff were all friendly, with the exception of some of them in the hotel restaurant, Sweet Loraines. A couple of them were unfriendly. The pool is nice and clean. The people mover is right there, you don't even have to go outside! We loved it, and will definitely return on one of our many stays in Detroit all year.

The Courtyard Marriott is literally just a skyway away from the Renaissance Center--that is a short walk that links the two hotels separated by the roadway in between. It was a great option for me since my meetings were in the Renaissance Center yet I wanted to save on the lodging costs. The Courtyard Marriott is a pretty good hotel. It has all the amenities, the location, and a good on-site restaurant "Sweet Lorraine's." The only constructive comment is that housekeeping services were lacking and they forgot to service my room after I removed the "Do Not Disturb" sign one day. However, the front desk staff immediately sent the night housekeeping supervisor to service my room. Another day, housekeeping was extremely delayed--as in they were just getting to my room at 5PM! The front desk offered me another "clean room." All in all, housekeeping is in transition yet the hotel is good overall and importantly most accessible to the Renaissance Center.

My husband and I visited Detroit for the Detroit International Jazz Festival, September 4-7, 2009 and were extremely pleased with our room at Courtyard by Marriott Downtown. However, the weather was cool, so we turned off the air conditioner and tried to turn heat on. After fiddling with that, we noticed an odor that continued throughout the rest of our stay. It wasn't bad enough for us to complain about, however, so we didn't. Otherwise, the room was clean, roomy & sunny. Just the way we like it. We asked for and received a room with a beautiful view of the city and river. It was just a block from the Hart Plaza and Woodward Avenue, where all the festival action was taking place. It had a fantastic workout facility, the pool was very nice and I loved the tennis court with the walking track surrounding it. All the staff were exceptional - friendly & helpful. The hotel was also within walking distance to many nice restaurants and their own, where we at breakfast a couple of times, was also quite nice. The hotel is the main reason that we were able to really enjoy the entire festival. It was very nice to come back to after an entire day out on the town. Other than that odor (that we made no complaint about - kind of a pissy smell), we thought it was a great place to stay. I'm sure that odor would've been remedied if we had only mentioned it. We do plan to visit Detroit again for the Jazz Festival, and we will definitely plan to stay again at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown.

On my trip to Detroit recently i stayed at the courtyard by Marriott. With this being my first visit to the motor city i drove around for 30 minutes trying to find it. It was very confusing being that the Marriott Reinesasnce is across the street and only marked with the Marriott logo. After parking and walking a quarter of a mile at least because there was no free parking and a closer lot was far more pricey, i finally was able to find it and check in.Once i checked in my boyfriend and I was shocked at how clean, contemporary and super nice this place was. It was far less expensive than comparable high end hotels and greatly surpassed my expectations.A great value for the money. The staff there was also the friendliest of any place that i have ever stayed. My experience here was awesome (besides the parking situation)and if in ever in Detroit again i will for sure stay here.
