Cheap place to stay if budget requires. Consider another stay.

Uphill walk to Huntington Metro South is OK, if you don't have case or luggage. Would not be a good walk in the rain or snow. Same for walking distance restaurants--all walks are up and down hill. $* for cab to Metro. Cab to King Street Metro is only $*. Called prior to visit with assurance that my room or all rooms have refrigerator and microwave--not true. Only pillows available were overstuffed foam. Room was a bit stuffy and tired. Other rooms undergoing remodeling. Breakfast only bread items, including a waffle. Very boring for 11 day stay. Staff indifferent to guests. No concern for pillows. Desk staff took smoke breaks right in front of the entrance to the hotel. Breakfast room has no personnel to clean tables between guests. On the plus side the in room Folger's coffee was good. Property appeared to be safe. May stay again if budget requires, but will bring more cab fare and pillow.

Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and spacious. Location was close to all public transportation and easily accessible to either Alexandria proper or D.C. Alot of informative tourist information in lobby as well as in the room. Very close to a variety of restaurants and even has a sub & pizza shop on site. It was a spur of the moment trip and we could not have been more pleased with how everything worked out.

We stayed for three nights. The room was okay, and even though it was reserved as "non-smoking" the room had the distinct smell of stale cigarette smoke - or even stale locker room. The A/C was loud and blew right at the side of one of the two beds - and was not adjustable. The breakfast was limited to cereal, toast, English muffins, and waffles - not very well stocked and no fruit of any kind. Seating area is too small and not well kept by staff. Overall, the place was okay, but only just. As a place from which to get into the city, the location was pretty good, but there isn't much beyond price and location to recommend this place.

The room was very clean and suited us fine. Front desk was okay, but not overly friendly. We went during spring break, there were some large groups there, but we never heard any noise at night. The continental breakfast was not that impressive, but we did partake of it and it was enough to get by until lunch. Staff tried to keep up on making sure the bar was kept clean and stocked. Unfortunately the seating area was not that clean because the travelers did not wipe off the table after they were done.
