Just two days before a U of A football game, we discovered that we were going to need a room there. I didn't think there was any chance of getting a room near Tuscaloosa that close to game day, but lo and behold, the Econolodge Northport had availability, and was only $* a night (which seemed like quite a deal given how much all the other motels charge on game weekends). Well, now I know why. When we walked into the room, there was a STRONG odor that reminded me of cat urine. The rooms are quite dated. There were only two towels in the room, both small and threadbare. When we pulled back the sheets, one of them was clearly stained in several places. The mattress was as hard as a rock, and the two pillows were both quite flat. Even though we asked for new sheets to be brought to us, I could hardly sleep (both from being incredibly uncomfortable and from wondering what other filth was lurking in the room that wasn't as easily visible as the sheets). I will NEVER stay at this motel again.
