We stayed here for 3 nights when traveling for a family reunion. We actually drive over to Mt. Carmel, IL ;about 10 miles so we don't know too much about Princeton, but this is a great hotel for being close to small towns on the IL border. There is a Walmart across the parking lot from the hotel, so that was a very nice convenience! When we first checked in and went to our room, the room looked as thought it belonged to someone else - bed unmade, bathroom used. So, we informed the front desk, and they moved us to another room quickly they even moved the fridge from the used room to our new room! - The hotel also discounted our first night to make up for that problem. The room we stayed in was very clean, and kept that way each day by the housekeeping staff. The bathroom counters are a little small, but we like that the toilet and shower are in a separate room from the counter, sink and mirror - more people can get ready at once! Our beds were VERY comfortable, and the linens were GREAT - none of those 1970's scratchy polyester quilted spreads here!! Amazing pillows, firm mattresses with those great soft pillow tops, and a great cozy spread on top. The breakfast each morning is great (would have liked it to be open longer, but other than that, great!), and they have a nice pool area (indoors to keep kids out of the sun, but you can open sliding glass doors and sit in a lounge chair outside and get your sun and still keep a great eye on the kiddos!) and the hot tub was also roomy and nice. Some of our other family members had some problems upon check-in also, but again, the issues were corrected quickly and they were adequately compensated. We got a great rate for our family reunion. Again, their rooms were GREAT. The only other issue was on our final night there - the fire alarm went off at 2:30AM and we, of course, went outside to wait. Firefighters responded very quickly (good job for Princeton FD!). Someone in our group had gone to the lobby to see what was going on, but no one was around and throughout the entire evacuation, we could not find any hotel staff. Eventually, we were allowed back in and we THINK that the problem was a malfunction with the sprinkler system - however, no one from the staff ever commented on the event or bothered to explain. When we woke up the next morning, our bill was under the door and we were not offered any compensation for being dragged from a sound sleep (while under the influence of Ambien and having to carry half-asleep 5 and 3 year olds with no help). So, I'm sure this was a one-time thing, but it was not very fun (I'm sure it will make good stories later!), and I did not appreciate that the staff did not respond. We WOULD stay here again, but I would hope that management can make some changes in operation between now and then.

I was unhappy to find that we had reserved a night during a family reunion where the rather large family spent all of their time in the super tiny lobby eating some really nasty smelling food. The pool area is really small as well, so, even though we chose a hotel with a pool, we were unable to actually use it because it was really only big enough for maybe 10 people, and like I said, there was a family reunion going on, so it was full.
