Not up to Marriott standards

I chose the Fairfield Inn because of two things - the other reviews here and the fact it is a Marriott facility. Both failed me. The staff was reasonably helpful, but ""aloof"" would go a long way toward describing their attitude. At one point we walked through the entry/check-in area and the entire staff, including maintenance and housekeeping, were lounging in the chairs laughing about what they had to clean up from the last night. I'm sorry you had such a mess, but neither my 12-year old nor my 10-year old need to hear about it. The hotel must have recently gone non-smoking because our room still had the lingering odor from the last decade of smokers. I'm betting the mold and mildew in the shower did not help the smell, either. We did not dare to actually use the shower. And while we're on the bathroom, I've never seen a more pathetic stool. I'm used to power-flushers in hotels. This was more like a meandering stream that might perhaps drag a sheet or two of TP with it as it meanders down the hole. As with almost every hotel bed I've ever attempted to rest upon, the beds were sprung on the sides closest to the TV - do hotels never rotate the stupid things? The Fairfield does not, either. Breakfast was a very typical free continental-plus banquet of simple carbs and rubbery hard-boiled eggs. No better, no worse than average. The impressive 40-inch LCD in the eating area was less impressive due to severe damage to the unit that only allowed you to see approximately 40% of the picture. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but the pool is a postage stamp of 4-foot deep water.

I had 2 rooms for my family in town for a 99th birthday & everyone associated with the Fairfield was so accomodating & friendly. I am a volunteer at the local visitor's center & I frequently recommend the Fairfield Inn to travelers.
