Although this is not the worst hotel I had stayed in, it rates in the bottom 5%.The rooms are very small and very worn.The beds are very uncomfortable, and the highway noise makes it hard to get a good nights sleep.The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you just need a place to lay your head for the night it might be ok. I have stayed in several hotels in the KC area and would recommend the Holiday Inn express westport. The extra $20 is well worth it

Although this is not the worst hotel I had stayed in, it rates in the bottom 5%.The rooms are very small and very worn.The beds are very uncomfortable, and the highway noise makes it hard to get a good nights sleep.The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you just need a place to lay your head for the night it might be ok. I have stayed in several hotels in the KC area and would recommend the Holiday Inn express westport. I almost didn't book here because of online reviews. However I had other family staying at the same motel, so risked it. For the money we had a good value. I did NOT notice a smokey smell in the rooms. We were on the back side away from the interstate so the noise level was not bad. The facilities were worn but acceptably clean. We spent a lot of time sitting and visiting in the 'cafe' area and were never made to feel we were a nuisance or interference in the time schedule.
