A Blast From The Past That Needs Work!

OK, so the only reason I booked this hotel was for the rate and because I don't live that far away and wanted to be relax with my girlfriend and her friend away from my home; My mom was a travel agent and I was fore warned that this not The Ritz or even a Hyatt, but considering the other choices (Super 8 in Stamford or the "crack" hotel off Exit 9), I thought this would be a good choice for us just hanging out after a show in NYC; and for that, it was; Needs news rugs, sheets, decor, etc. but not as sleazy as I make it sound! For *.00 bucks a night, you can't beat it; The next lowest was 129.00 per night at the Stamford Suites, then 189.00 at the Hyatt and on up from there; Great location just off the highway and some fantastic restaurants and shops within walking distance; Plus the "hamlet" of Riverside in the Town of Greenwich is very beautiful!

The front desk staff person that I dealt with twice was rude; I think he would rather continue his personal phone calls than deal with newly arriving or departing guests. He ignored me once for so long that I just gave up.
The hotel is more of a motel and some of the rooms are very close to the interstate so if you need quiet, this isn't the place for you. As a female traveling alone, I thought the whole set up was scarey.
The interior probably looks about the same as it did in the 60's or 70's. Nothing has been updated. It was clean so they did the best with what they had. The heat wasn't turned on so when the sun went down it was cool.
Overall, I'm surprised that Ho Jo's allows its name to be used. -

Dirty, tired furnishings. Stale cigarette smell in room, despite having acquired a "no smoking" room. No pool, even though advertised as such, no fitness facility. I was expecting an important business package and told the front desk to please be on the lookout for it. Nevertheless, front desk REFUSED the package when it arrived by FedEx and sent it back. It's hard to believe a hotel of this poor quality can still be in operation.

A great value for the location! The building is motel style (exterior access) and old, but the rooms are well kept and relatively comfortable. My room was equipped with a fridge and microwave in addition to amenities listed. The cable TV is decent (60+ channels) and the open wireless access was a great plus! On the down side, there is only one Ice/Vending area and it's on the 3rd level. Parking was also limited especially after 5pm.
