Even though I had reserved and paid for the room online the front desk manager wanted to swipe my card and charge me again. We had reserved a room with two double beds and that was all that fit in the room. The air conditioning was not turned on and took 2-3 hours to cool down the room. The bathroom was the smallest bathroom I had ever seen in any hotel. The bathroom door did not latch. The paint job was terrible. The shower nozzle came off. I had reserved the room on the basis of the Howard Johnson name. It was a big disappointment to find a HJ in such a bad way.

This is NOT a Hotel it is a MOTEL. Security doors on the lobby require guests to be buzzed in. Bullet-proof glass with a speaker hole separates guests from the hotel staff. Had requested a room with a rollaway (3 kids). Manager informed me that a roll away would not even fit in the rooms here!! I had made reservations with HJ 800 number and had called that afternoon to confirm late arrival, roll away availability etc. Every time was assured everything was in order. Manager suggested I pay him an additional $* for another room with an outdoor entrance - for the children to stay in!! I did not even see the room, but the computer required rating on cleanliness and the beds- the lobby was okay, except for the smell. I was requried to pay for the room since I had made a reservation but we DID NOT STAY at this location. Subsequent calls to HJ resulted in the location manager calling me and offering me more nights at his MOTEL at a discount! I don't think so. HJ clearly does not understand "customer service" or "truth in advertising". Baymont Hotels in this area are GREAT - try one of them instead!!!!!

I was afraid to keep my reservation due to comments listed, but wanted low weekly rate. The motel is advertised incorrectly. No pool, no restaurant/lounge (even though lobby smells like curry), no alarm clock. I did have in room coffee, micro/fridge, and free wireless internet. Housekeeping took a few 'shortcuts' in my room, but cleanliness was acceptable. Color cable TV with full channel lineup. And weekly rate is 7 nights for price of 5. Would stay again.
