This is an old motel, so there's not a lot that can physically be done to make it better. The bathroom door is an exterior door, much too BIG and heavy for the bathroom. The door just grazes the front of the toilet! God forbid someone might push the door open with someone sitting there!
The door locks need a LOT of work. Our key cards worked several different ways, but never the same way twice in a row! We finally discovered that we could hear a tiny "click". When it clicked, we could open the door if we were quick! Sometimes it clicked with the little green light on, and sometimes it didn't click until the little green light went out! Sometimes the door would open if we just left the card in the door. It was interesting.
My sister has always raved about these Hampton Inns, but for my money, we'd have been better served at the motel next door.
I almost never book a motel with the rooms opening to the outside, but I did with this motel. Wouldn't do it again, however. The room was not that comfortable for what we paid, even with the AARP discount. -

Disappointed that this wasn't a traditional Hampton with the security of indoor corridors. Room was okay. Breakfast: stale pastries and very peculiar orange juice. If you stay in Walterboro, pay less somewhere else and treat yourself to a good breakfast at Waffle House or Cracker Barrel with the savings.
