This trip to Xi'an was taken for business purposes. We stay in nice hotels throughout China and expected the same when choosing the Hyatt brand. The hotel was not what we expected. The lodgings were very old and grimy. It was obvious that the room had not been cleaned well and didn't appear to be updated since the late 80s. The room made me feel depressed with its low ceilings and dated decor. We also had access to the lounge which was comparable to the room- old and sad. A buffet breakfast was included with the lounge access, however it wasn't much more than a continental breakfast- not like other Western hotels in China. So instead, we ended up paying extra for the full buffet downstairs. The upside of the hotel was the courteous staff, who upgraded us to suites, and the location, close to the city center. All of the employees were extremely nice and spoke excellent English. I would not stay here again. The same or less money can be spent at much nicer, newer hotels.

Overpriced hotel
04/18/2008This hotel is overpriced and a bit shoddy for a 5 star hotel. the location is good - about a 10 minute walk from the bell tower.
