Our rooms were beautifully and graciously appointed, very clean and comfortable, with elegant antiques mixed in with a few tasteful contemporary accents. The overstuffed chairs were very comfortable, as were the beds and pillows. Usually I bring my own pillows because hotel pillows tend to be too hard or too lumpy. These were perfect! The hand-held clothes steamer was a useful and elegant touch, as was the in-room safe for valuables. The room where we stayed overlooked the University of Madison campus and featured nicely-framed prints of the work of Impressionist Claude Monet. Just a few blocks from the university center, it's a perfect place for prospective students' parents to stay while doing their college visits, or for business travelers who prefer an upscale location with quality personal service. There is parking underneath and next to the hotel (not listed on the travel website - we had to call and check) and the on-site Governor's Club, where we had an elegant and yummy continental breakfast. I'd give it four stars and will definitely stay there again! Their sister hotel is in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I spent a few days in Madison in June 2008 and stayed at the Dahlmann because of the location. I had a corner room on an upper floor. The room was small but charming and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was slightly above average. If you are visiting the campus the location is great, two blocks from Memorial Library and the Student Union and one block from State Street. I would definatly stay there again

  • Very quaint
