  We stayed at the Amathus in October for a wedding for two weeks. As far as being one of the Leading Hotels of the World, I was actually wondering if they paid to be on that list. I have travelled extensively and this hotel could not even come close to comparing to some others that I have stayed in. The room with our king size bed was two twin beds pushed together. The bed linens were cheap and nasty, the kind of threadcount you you would expect more in a Howard Johnsons. The bathroom door had a hole in it which had been badly patched and the tiling in the bathroom was chipped with yellow grout. Hardly a "World Class" room. The staff was friendly and helpful and actually would go out of their way to help. However, room service at 8 am just didn't do it for me when I was trying to deal with jet lag and a 24 hour period of travelling before I arrived.. They kind of refused to take no for an answer and I had housekeeping camping outside of my door The food was OK, with the exception of the lunchtime steak at the pool bar which was outstanding. Eating and drinking in this hotel is super expensive, which I expected anyways. We had much more fun going out to eat at the little cafe's and the Gator Pub across the street where the food was half the price and twice as good. The pool is absolutely gorgeous but I was disappointed in their "beach".

  Excellent service from the minute you arrive and are greeted with a cold hand towel and fresh orange drink at reception. Excellent dining facilities and options - breakfast could take hours. The swimming pool is suitable for swimmers of all standards being split into one shallow pool and one deep pool. The entertainment provided is good but for this class of hotel more than a piano bar and 3 piece band during dinner is expected. Overall a great two weeks holiday stay
