This hotel is way below par. There were a lot of stains on the carpet and ceiling and some on the towels. The heater did not work very well, going from too cold to too hot with one notch, the volume control on the TV went from too-quiet-to-hear to blasting out the neighbors with one click, THERE WAS NO HOT WATER THE FIRST MORNING I WAS THERE!!!, the shower curtain fails to keep water off the floor. Some rooms have refrigerators and some do not, they don't tell you that and the rooms without fridges are no less expensive. The continental breakfast is only toast, frozen English muffins and fruit that is past it's prime. There is no elevator in the building so avoid upper floors if you can't take stairs. The hallways are pretty cold and drafty. On the plus side, there is plenty of parking, easy access to the highway in all directions (once you figure it out, it's weird, but works) and even though some of the towels had stains on them, they were mostly very soft and fluffy. And the staff was very nice. Overall, not worth the price for what you get (or don't get)

This is the worst hotel in Lawrence. Judging by their rates, a traveler might be fooled into believing they were staying in a decent hotel. The fact is--the place is a dump. My ""non-smoking"" room reeked of tobacco and had ashtrays everywhere. So I swapped my king size bed for a skimpy double but got no refund in room rates. Then, the TV was broken in the second room, but I decided against changing rooms again. Besides a broken TV, everything else in the room was either dirty or in disrepair. The pool was drained and had debris piled all around it, yet my visit was in late April. Then beginning at about 9:30 the next morning, hotel employees began calling my room and coming to the door wondering when I'd be checking out. To be honest, they were wasting their time; I couldn't get out fast enough. I've stayed in practically every other hotel in Lawrence, and the Econo Lodge's rates were only a few bucks less that their competitors, but the quality was a major step down. I recommend that if this hotel is your only option, stay home. Seriously.

For the price of $85, I was extremely disappointed. The room was grungy and yellowing. The bathtub had rust stains and the corners were grey-brown with dirt. The side of the table in the room was greasy with who-knows-what. There was no remote control in the room because the tv's sensor had been busted. I will never stay here again.

Where do I start...Overall it was bad. The room was cold when coming in, The remote control didn't work, the water pressure was low, breakfast is $6.50 for what looked like bad food (we didn't try it), the one soda machine that works is impossible to find, security doors on the outside don't work, and we got locked into the room because the deadbolt didn't work properly.
