I booked a nonsmoking room for one night at this Super 8. Despite this - the room smelled very strongly of smoke. In fact - it smelled so strong that I slept with the window open. This did not help matters. The room was clean, bed was acceptable, everything worked fine. The smoke smell was truly overwhelming.

The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was dark and smelled as if it was converted from a smoking room recently. There were signs every stating no smoking but that must have been recent. The bathroom and linens were clean. I would recommend overhaul as opposed to scenting the problem away.

Not a destination, but decent and convenient
07/27/2007I can't issue a ringing endorsement of this motel, but it was relatively low in cost and served the needs we had to fill.

I chose the motel because it seemed relatively close to the (Jaffrey, NH area) camp where I would pick up my daughter the next morning. Signage to the parking lot was slightly confusing, but the place was reasonably clean and well-maintained. It also offered a convenient, brief walk to a very decent Chinese restaurant, Yen Yen Jiu Jia -- which was quite good, especially in light of the somewhat rural location.
The motel is also convenient to a gas station whose prices at the time (a late July 2007 spike in pump prices) were among the best I noted in the area, and a good, convenient place to fill up. Convenient access to several fast food chains and deep discount retailer (Big Lots or a similar, Massachusetts-based chain). There was also a Staples outlet within easy walking distance.
A little off the beaten path, even for Gardner, which may explain the motel's relatively low occupancy at the time, as well as a certain minimalist approach to maintenance and promotion.
