I took my Girl Scout troop for a weekend trip to Salem and we booked this hotel via online travel website. We clearly stated that we needed 4 rooms for 4 adults and 8 children. When we checked in they gave us 4 rooms with king sized beds! They wouldn't move our rooms since they claimed they were fully booked and that it was online travel websites fault that they booked our rooms as king sized beds they said it would be a fire code hazard to put a cot in the back of the room and take out the kitchen set and put a cot there, however, later on when they offered us more rooms at the going nighly rate of $150+ they had rooms and what was so funny is that those rooms had tables setup and blocking the room door by default. We are a non-profit Girl Scout troop and would need to sell about 300 extra boxes of cookies to come up with $300 for two nights for an extra room. So we ended up having to make do with what we had. Also, be aware that the pool IS NOT included with your stay. They charge you $5 per person to use the pool which is not that great. You can pay another $20-30 per person to go to CoCo Keys but if your on a budget who can do that? Overall, the room itself was okay for a room that's rated 3.5 at most booking sites. The cable sucked, there was rarely anything on TV. We were there two nights and the same thing was on both nights - weird. The one good thing is that it's right off the highway.

Rooms are DIRTY..........stains on comforters, smells like dirty feet (mabe mold?). shower curtain needs to be replaced along with ceiling tiles. Water park water was colder than normal and the hot tub was below average temp. It just felt GROSS being here. Mixed up staff members (each had a different way of doing things). Room came with water park passes (we were issued wrong color) so had to make a change with those. Reservations were for 3 days, went out for the day to find that our room keys didn't work, went to front desk ""we had you checking out today"". Thank goodness they didn't give our room away with all of our personal belongings..ie computer. Handicapped entrance is hidden way in the back of the hotel that doe not meet ADA. This stay included use of the health club, so after the cold water my husband and I went there to use the hot tub, I was told by that staff member that I needed a special pass from the front desk...............the bed is comfortable but the sheets are very rough. Had to use a blanket to sleep on, YUCK! ......THIS STAY WAS A BUST AND A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! The soft serve ice cream at the water park was outstanding.

Had an issue with the heat when we first arrived. ENded up having to replace the heater. TOok about 2 and a half hours, but they fixed it. Staff was very friendly and they comped our passes to the water park because of it. Only drawback: Not being able to check-in earlier than 4pm. Rooms were nice and the facilities were very nice.

There was an evacutaion at 1am. The announcement made over the hallway loud speaker, was very quiet! We were the only ones on our floor to actually leave the floor (4th floor). I think this was due to the fact it was so quiet. Then when we followed the emergency exits, they lead us down to a lower level with NO exit. We then became a larger group and had to walk back up 2 flight of stairs and travel through the entire hotel still not knowing what was going on, and find an alternate exit. The door on the first floor was locked from the inside. Which made us travel up another flight of stairs. Once we reached the lobby we were allowed to wait inside and the front desk had no idea what was going on, provided no information and looked more like deer in headlights than anything else. One front desk worker was even running around rather crazed. Needless to say I will never reccomend the ferncroft again!
