Maintenance is suffering, presumably because the hotel is going out of business at the end of Sept. '07. Was unable to check into room until 2 hours after check-in time because of minimal staff. Received a double bed instead of the queen I reserved (and paid for). Staff just assumed I wouldn't notice the difference, I guess. Towels were well worn, far beyond their useful life. TV only had about 6 channels, and reception was spotty. Wi-Fi did not work. Vending machine was out of order the whole week we stayed. Rusty old ice machine worked, albeit noisily. Room was spacious; even included a walk-in closet. The best thing about this hotel is location. It is right off I-90, about 5 minutes from downtown Seattle. Not much to do on the island; it is mostly a (very pricey) bedroom community. A few fast-food eateries, a couple of grocery stores, and a couple of drug stores, that's it. High marks for location if you are vacationing in Seattle.

  • inexpensive rest near downtown

This was a cut above bare bones, but it served as a perfectly adequate place to rest in a quiet area. wireless internet was available, showers, tv etc.

The location to the hotel is great, right on Mercer Island. Mercer Island is a small island that is primarily residential. You can walk around late at night and feel safe. The Albertson's is open really late in case your hungry. The rooms have refrigarators so can take drinks in. The staff is great! It is a no frills travelodge, but it is clean. Which is very important to me.
