  I chose this hotel from a Rick Steves recommendation and you won't be disappointed. It is an old palace, with some beautiful architecture and the rooms are modern, comfortable and clean. The location is incredible. You are one block from the Ramblas, 2 minutes from Placa de Catalunya and the pedestrian way in front of the hotel is THE place to be for shopping and people watching. Only one caution: Taxis cannot pull to the door. If you have a LOTof luggage, simply walk to the hotel, get the luggage rack and load it up. The cathedral, Picasso Museum, Ramblas, market, the harbor, Gaudi buildings, music museum and metro are easily in walking distance. The breakfast is very nicely done. Huge buffet of fruit, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses, juices, cereal, breads, you name it. Cloth tablecloths and napkins, attentive wait staff and lovely view of the courtyard. I would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it. J and N at the front desk were very helpful with directions and info.
