- This hotel is in process of a 2 year renovation project. Details include guest rooms/hallways, large pool, banquet rooms, and exterior painting. All amenities will remain available during this time with the exception of some limitations. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Some noise disturbances can be anticipated.

This is now a 3 star hotel working towards 4. I stayed 2 weeks Oct. 14 until 29th Oct. 2009, and with the cheapest rate came a great view of Hilo Bay. The daily maid service was excellent. The location is best iin Hilo, with an early morning stroll or jog along Banyon Drive, with hundreds of others. Noisy? what noise? rain? in two weeks, I had only one rainy day and it was only a mist, you get wetter from sweating. You are only a couple blocks from hwy 11 or 19, which will take you anywhere around the island. This is the best place in town, for Hilo and the Big Island is just a counrty town, why waste your money on a few extra amenities, save it for the big cities.

Once we got used to the concept of a hotel room with no carpet or drapes we found our oceanfront room was clean, comfortable and appropriate for the climate. We could see Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hilo Harbor from our balcony. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Our only complaint...we could have used a bit more storage and a lock on the bathroom door.

Overall a very nice hotel. Took a few minutes to adjust to the idea of no carpet but once i realized the reason behind no carpeting, I was fine with it. There is no carpet in the hotel due to all of the moisture from being right by the ocean. The hotel was very clean and the view was gorgeous. The bathroom was very nice and had a nice shower. The king sized bed had an additional twin bed in the room. I had an oceanview room and it was well worth it.
