I had read the reviews of other travelers before I booked my 8 day stay. I found those offering to be extremely helpful. The staff, particularly G, were wonderful. Since the units are individually owned, the degree of updating differs greatly. Check water pressure in bathroom, air conditioner (make sure cold air is really coming out of the vents), and appliances to ensure they are working when you enter your room. IIf you don't like what you see, ask to look at another unit. My kitchen was well equiped & roomier than I expected. The bed, couch & 2 chairs, and dining table with 4 chairs were not crammed in the space. The grounds are beautiful. Unlike other resorts with multiple hi-risers, the Villas only had one high rise (not nearly as large as those nearby) and the remainder of the buildings were 2 stories. there were only a handful of people on the beach. You didn't feel crowded. The cafe on grounds is pricey, so I did most cooking in my kitchen. There are 2 grocery stores nearby, a Safeway at the Cranberry Mall (jabout 10 minutes before Villas and on the way from the airport) and The Times (on Rt 30, 2 lights past the Villas turnoff, turn left & it's in that shopping center - better choices here). Take the beach walk for exercise, it's on both sides of Villas. The Hana trip (worth taking) takes the entire day even though only 55 miles from airport. Roads so windy (though easy to drive) you go slow. On way, See Eden Gardens. See Haleakala volcano, at 10,000 ft. again an easy drive and takes about half a day, bring a sweater. Iao Valley also worth drive, only about 40 min from Villas. Loved experience, loved the Villas.

The onsite restaraunt was delicious. tuesday was pasta night and buy one meal get one free. overall we loved this site. Only downer was the atm quit working on the second day and 5 days later when we left it was still out. upon check out you have to bring your pool towels to the front desk or be charged $20 each for them.oh and they handed us a bill for $87.50 for a facility fee.

We stayed here for the second week of a 2 week honeymoon. They treated us very well and upgraded us from a one bedroom garden view to a one bedroom ocean view--the view was fantastic. The room had been recently updated and was very clean. The kitchen was very well equipped with new appliances. I believe this may not be the case with all rooms and we were lucky that the unit owner was meticulous. The staff was friendly and helpful, the grounds were clean and well maintained. The outdoor grills were not that convenient. We didn't use the pool. But, it looked clean and was very popular with many other guests. This location on Kaanapali is certainly remarkable. The beach and water are clean and free of coral reef so ocean swimming is convenient. Apparently, we were staying during off season. There were a good number of vacationers. But, we never felt crowded. We had a nice breakfast at Castaways and an OK dinner. Anyway, eating so close to the ocean night or day is a winner and it is very convenient. We felt that the main building had seen many visitors and is in need of a renovation. It wasn't shoddy, but it seemed a little outdated and tired. Overall, we felt it was a good value and would stay there again.

Kaanapali Villas are hotel style rooms, but each suite is independently owned, so you are staying in someone's vacation home (as was evidenced by the family photos). Our villa was very spacious with a full kitchen, living/dining room combo, large bedroom and large bathroom. The staff is courteous, the hotel has a nice Hawaiin theme, and the hotel sits at the beachfront. Be aware of the resort fees, including charges for the pool towels in your room. Housekeeping maintains the rooms with a surface cleaning, but food from the previous guest was left on top of the fridge. The Sofa Bed was "temporarily out of order" so we were a little cramped. Overall, the hotel is nice but needs some minor improvements. We found the location to be far from much of what we wanted to do. Many of our activities were a minimum of 45 minutes drive time. Parking was a nightmare: there are no assigned spots, so it's first come, first serve and most nights we parked three buildings away from our building. TIP: Old Lahina Luau is a must! From the moment we were lei'd to the closing performance, you are smiling and hoping the evening will never end.
