We stayed at this hotel for a convention, we travel often and have yet to be treated as poorly as we did at this hotel. We arrived at the hotel at about 9pm with reservations made a month in advance for a luxury King Bed room and when we arrived they told us that they had over booked for our type of room and offered us a shoebox room or two queen beds that were hard as rocks. To make matters worse someone else in our party who I had given our reservations to that booked after we did got a luxury king room. Then the hotels staff went in and changed our reservation with Holiday Inn to say we wanted a 2 bed queen room even though we had the print out. Not to mention the dirty bathrooms, wall paper peeling off the walls, the maid leaving a"tip" envelope and a hotel pool that seemed to be lacking chlorine. We checked out a day early. To make it worse we logged the complaint with Holiday Inn and got a rude phone message from the manager telling us how we got up-graded and we didn't have any grounds to complain... This makes me want to write off all Holiday Inns!

They charge a lot more for weekend nights, which is way more than it was worth. The room was large and fairly clean, but not real comfortable. The room had a sitting area with a sofa and small table, but that didn't leave much room for suitcases. I was very surprised that the 2 queen beds didn't have a bedspread! The room had a mini fridge and microwave and there was an indoor pool, but we didn't use these features. The TV had a lot of cable channels. The AC was very loud and was not powerful enough to cool the other side of the room. My biggest complaint was that the bathroom had the shower and vanity area in the same room. This is very annoying for a woman trying to dry hair and apply make-up while someone else is in the shower. Even if you wait until the next person is out of the shower, the room is hot and humid. The hot breakfast was good - the cinnamon rolls were excellent - but the seating area was too small for all the people trying to eat. We sat in the lobby with a plate on our lap.

This motel was very clean. The front desk was friendly and helpful. For the first time ever the maid staff was very friendly. Every other place I have ever stayed, the maids won't even look you in the eye, let alone say hello. The beds are very comfortable with choice of firm or soft pillows.

My newly wed wife and I spent 4 lovely days at this Holiday Inn, it was great. Everything was kept clean and fresh. The staff were very helpful and polite. We are already planning a summer get away to stay at this hotel again. And the location is perfect. It's not that far from anywhere. It's about 17 miles from downtown Helen, Ga. The drive to Helen is great as well. We totally recommend this Holiday Inn.
