Used to be nice motel on previous visit, but on latest visit housekeepers changed sheets/vacuumed room only on request (and sometimes 2-3 requests). The carpet in room had not been cleaned in quite a while. They don't dust or clean behind the night table. (clue: housekeepers did not bring vacuum with them so they have to ""look"" for one when we insisted they vacuum daily). The mildew/mold on inside of our shower curtain was disgusting (we did get them to replace shower curtain next day after check-in, but only by asking a 2nd time). Dirt on bathroom floors. Hallways never got vacuumed during visit. Trash in hallways and blowing across back of parking lot. Beds and pillows were very comfortable (except if you wake up wondering if they change sheets between guests....I hope they do!) Employees personable, Free Breakfast was not up to usual Holiday Inn Express standards. Bacon and sausage looked undercooked on 4 out of 5 days. Bacon thin enough to see through it (really!) The printer in ""business area"" near lobby was broken.

On this weekend trip to explore the Illinois River, this Holiday Inn was comfortable and friendly lodging. The front desk was particularly helpful in recommending a delicious restaurant that serves buffalo steak. The complimentary breakfast was nice and included biscuits and gravy, yogurt, muffins, cereal, toast and bagels. I found myself craving sausage and eggs to go along with my biscuits, but it was fine. Overall, a pleasant experience. Planning to stay at this location again next year!
