I stayed here about a month ago. I must tell you that the staff was nice, but it was without question the filthiest motel I have ever stayed in. The room was hot, and took over a day to cool enough to be comfortable. There were obvious stains on the rug. The handle fell off the bath tub. All in all, not a good experience. Cleaning staff needs a lesson on proper cleaning procedures.

I stayed in this hotel in March, 2009. The ONLY positve thing I could say about this hotel is that when I checked in, the front dest manager was the one who checked me in. EVERYTHING after that went down hill. Our room was next to the stairs, in which you could hear groups of teenagers running up and down till 1:00 a.m. When I called to report this at 10:50 p.m., along with the fact that we only had one set of towels in the room, we were told by a fairly rude employee that we'd have to wait till security came on at 11:00 p.m. to get more towels. She said they had received several complaints about the teens. Why wasn't something done at an earlier time of night, if there were so many complaints? I was annoyed that I had to wait for towels at that time of night when they should have already been in the room before checking in. I live in the area but due to my work schedule, I don't always have time to make it home so I do sometimes opt to stay in local hotels to save driving . This was the first, and last time, I've stayed at this hotel. I have stayed at the one in Chespeake on two different occasions and would do so again. They gave excellent service, putting the Hampton Holiday Inn to more shame than they did for themselves. The carpet in the room was old with stains in it. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was in a Motel 6, or a cheaper economy hotel than a Holiday Inn.

Enroute, I had a delay, and instead of changing my arrival date, the clerk on the phone cancelled my reservation. At check-in, they refused to honor the free breakfast offer advertised on THEIR website, but since I was a Priority Club member, I had to choose between 500 extra points, one breakfast per day, or two drinks per day at the bar. The clerk directed me to parking that was not the most convenient to the room. There was no way that they had vacumed between the bed and nightstand, nor the worktable and the TV cabinet, nor the TV cabinet and refrigerator. The AC was set way too cold, and the fan was so noisy. There were disgusting clumps of dust on the air intake. There was no stopper for the sink, and the shower took almost five minutes to get hot water. The wireless internet would not connect, and the tech support told me that they needed to call the hotel to have them reboot their server. It was over six hours before I could connect. The indoor pool area was flooded, and the water on the floor was muddy. The water in the pool itself was a murky green color. One of the vending machines didn't dispense the product, and the desk staff told me to call the number on the machine -- which was an answering machine and I never got a response. The best thing was the extensive breakfast buffet, but the servers were slow and inattentive.

The non-smoking room smelled like a local bar on Sunday morning after a really rowdy Saturday night. Not only was there the underlying smell of mold or mildew in the room, but there was a very strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. We complained about the smell and were told that the only other available room would be in a completely different building. We repacked everything and headed over to the new room only to discover that there was only one bed as opposed to the two that we had in the first room and needed in the new one. Off to a third room which was located in yet another building. The smell is better despite a close look showing urine stains on the toilet base, either blood or red mold on the bathroom ceiling and enough hair in and around the bathroom floor to make a nice donation to Hair Club for Men. The pool is just outside this latest room...but no worries since it is closed for repair. Unfortunately the repairs began with hammer banging at a little before 8:00 on Saturday morning...by the way, we couldn't get to sleep until 3:00, mostly due to the intense lighting flooding the room through and around the curtains. After making a complaint call to the front desk, we heard a call come across the radio that the pool workers were carrying. No hammering until after 11:00 check-out. Maybe a chance for sleep? NOT! The hammering was promptly replaced with the screech of a screw gun. I complained once again to the manager and was offered a meek apology and breakfast to make-up for the fact that I got little-or-no sleep. NEVER AGAIN!

HAD A GREAT TIME. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND WHEN I REQUESTED A ROOM CLOSER TO MY FAMILY THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMODATE ME EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE VERY BUSY AND HAD HOUSEKEEPING CLEAN THE NEW ROOM FOR ME RIGHT AWAY EVEN THOUGH WE WERE CHECKING IN EARLY.
POOLS WERE GREAT AND CLEAN. I WILL STAY HERE AGAIN AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT ESPECIALLY FOR FAMILIES AND THOSE LOOKING FOR A BARGAIN.
