Travelled in September - Shoulder season. Hotel common areas are nice. Hotel room was fine, but not as nice as I had expected. There was a bit of a strange odor, but not too bad. Refrigerator in room didn't work but they promptly fixed it as soon as I reported it. Microwave in room smelled of spoiled milk when I used it. TV and DVD player in room were nice. Free DVD rentals throughout your stay was a nice benefit when my son got sick and we stayed indoors for a full day. Pools are nice. Kids activities weren't prevalent during shoulder season. Staff was accommodating but not quite up to my expectations. For example, upon checkin I was given my key and told where the elevators were. No explanation of where DVD rentals were, where pools were, where dining room is, any activities that they coordinate... basically no information about hotel at all, other than how to get to my room. When my son got very sick in the middle of the night, the front desk was very helpful in providing a map and directions to the emergency room. They did express care and concern for my son. The hotel wasn't bad, but just wasn't as good as I had expected. I chose the hotel because we weren't staying a full week like we usually do, so I didn't want to bother with grocery shopping and preparing meals... but instead wanted convenient meals in the hotel. I've stayed in the Destin/FWB each area every year or so for 15 years. This is the first time I've stayed at a 'hotel' - I usually rent a condo. Next year I will most likely go back to renting a condo.

A great family hotel located directly on the beach. We booked this hotel knowing they place neon armbands on each guest. I found it to be a safely feature; it didn't bother us or interfere with our having a great time; several family resorts do this. The hotel is a typical Holiday Inn with comfy beds, loads of towels and clean rooms. The staff is excellent and goes above and beyond in trying to please its guests. I did not have younger kids but the hotel does have a great program for the younger set. My kids are older teens and still loved being here. The free DVD rentals were a hit. The pools are well maintained and very nice. The deck overlooking the beach is really nice and the kids enjoyed the tiki hut sitting area. My boys would meet others in the arcade to play pool, video games and hang out. They rated it an eight or 9 on the scale and all agreed they want to come back. The beach is simply fabulous! We had a partial view room overlooking the beach and enjoyed sitting on the balcony.

This was our 13th trip to Destin, Fl., and we have NEVER been more satisfied with overall service as we were with this hotel. I made frequent calls to the front desk, requesting toiletries, towels, or coffee...etc., and they ALWAYS delivered the items promptly and with a smile. The children's programs were AMAZING! My two sons and nephew never ran out of activities during our stay! A HUGE outdoor pool, indoor pool, game room, outdoor cafe, and the 'Little Buccaneers' program for children kept the boys busy. Breathtaking ocean views from our balcony were also a plus. We will DEFINITELY return!!!!

My family has stayed here for the past 3 years over our summer vacation and we love it. Stayed here when I was a kid with my family also. Plan to be there again this summer. Great enviroment for kids and easy access to the main strip for other activities. Staff is frendly, helpful, and polite. Not a place for young couples with no children though. Beach, pool, and dinning all right there. We drive from Plano, and the trip is well worth the drive.

We went Spring Break with 5 and 6 year olds. Because of online travel website , they upgraded us to the Kid Suite: enclosed bunk beds with TV and Playstation and DVD. The rooms are kinda old but functional. When we first arrived some lamps didn't have bulbs and the toilet was constantly running. We called for maintenance and they handled it immediately. The coffee maker was slimy. The kid suite is a good functional design with microwave and fridge, wifi and privacy (given it's designed for parents and kids). We thought that the staff could have been friendlier. Most times they wouldn't smile or greet us properly. The spring breakers overran the hotel but they were under control. If you arrived on the beach before 11am you were assured a good spot. Overall we were satisfied with the trip considering what we paid but I don't think we would consider staying at another Holiday Inn. This first experience made the difference.
