My husband and I chose to stay at this hotel during the Christmas holiday...WHAT A MISTAKE! After traveling all day on 12/23/07, we arrived to the hotel to find that due to the holidays, the lounge and restaurant would be closed until 01/02/08!! As out of towners, we were quite upset...no one had bothered to inform us of the closings when we made our reservation (we had to call the hotel directly as the online reservation system was not working...that should have been a sign of the bad things to come!). Apparently, the cleaning staff was out of service, too, as our room was never cleaned during our 3-night stay. When I called the front desk about our room not being cleaned, I was told I could receive fresh towels at the front desk, but, I would have to get them myself as there was no staff available. In addition, trays of left-over room service dishes/food were in the hallway upon check-in and were STILL in the hallway when we checked out on 12/26/07. The hallway stunk of stale food. For our trouble, we received a meager $20 discount on our room and we were offered a measly boxed breakfast. This was supposed to compensate us for our misery. After our trip, an additional request was made to the hotel to receive a full refund...no one bothered to reply to this request until a second e-mail was sent to the hotel. Upon receipt of the second note, we were told that the $20 per night adjustment on our bill and the boxed breakfast was all they could offer and they believed we had been justly compensated. The hotel describes itself on it?s website as exemplifying the well-known tradition of gracious Kentucky hospitality?what a joke!
