We booked a room for a anniversary stay. Heard a lot about the hotel. Rooms were small, and a little outdated. Staff was not very friendly or informed about the local area. Food and drinks were good in the restaurant and the bars. The best thing about this hotel is the location however the worst thing is the price and what you get for the price. A couple of months later we booked a hotel down the street at the Charleston Place hotel which was cheaper but much nicer and the staff there were excellent. I would not recommend the Mills House.

Hotel was very nice. Beautiful both inside and out. Only had a few interactions w/ the staff, but they were all very helpful. The rooms are very nice except the bathrooms are very small. That is the only downside. The hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to everything we did in downtown. Use the parking garage instead of the valet b/c its right behind the hotel, so its very convenient especially since you don't need to drive. Outside courtyard is beautiful and night time. If you don't mind spending a few dollars for dinner, goto 82 Queen right next to the hotel, it has the best food.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in September 2009. I would highly recommend staying here. Although somewhat expensive, you get what you pay for. The staff and all employees were courteous and helpful, and we felt like we were pampered guests. Everything about the room was clean and very comfortable. Room temperature was comfortable, and no outside noise to keep us awake. Beautiful lobby and courtyard, ideal for sitting outside and enjoying a glass of wine which we did both nights. The location was ideal with regard to the historic district. The only negative was that we had the choice of paying for valet service or parking our car ourselves. would probably park our car ourselves in the parking ramp next time. The valet attendants were extremely nice, and allowed us to park our car at no charge in front of the hotel in the valet parking area for two hours the day we checked out, so that we could take a carriage ride before leaving town.

I stayed for 4 nights with my 16 year old son at The Mills House as we dropped his brother off at C of C. The staff was professional and their cheerful dispositions were contagious. Our room was very spacious and clean. The valet service was perfect for us. But if we weren’t transporting dorm items we wouldn’t have even used the car as the MH hotel was a nice walk to everything we wanted to see. We were shocked, when he left $ cash by mistake on the desk and it was still there when we returned 5 hours later after the room had been cleaned.16 year old loved the pool which was never too crowded even on the hottest days of August. During our stay the kitchen was closed for renovations but the staff was eager to recommend many delicious places for us to try.

The Mills House is in a wonderful location, close to the historic homes and fab restaurants, as well as great shopping including Saks and specialty boutiques. The rooms, as to be expected in an older property, were small. The bathrooms are tiny however. This was a problem for us as we like to primp. Also, there was no mini bar in the room-they will bring a small refrigerator to your room at no charge. They do provide a nice coffee maker and robes. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The dining room and bar were charming and served good food and drinks but both were a little pricey.
