Honestly, it was not a good experience because it was the worst Courtyard in which I have ever stayed. I usually choose Courtyard by Marriot because they the have the perfect balance between amenities and price. This one, however, not so much. I checked-in right at check-in time, so many rooms had to be available. I was given a room on the third floor right in front of the elevator. I had a ""lovely"" view of a fast food chicken restaurant. The next morning at 7:00 a.m., someone opened the door to my room, and except for the latch on the door, would have come right on in. I reported it, and asked to change rooms. This time I was given a room on the second floor (even closer to the fast food restaurant), that smelled like paint and laquer. All in all, it was not a good experience, and I really expected more considering it is adjacent to one of the finest universities in the world.

Being elderly and technologically inept, I do not have my own portable telephone. I used the used the telephone provided by Marriot for two approximately five to ten minute telephone calls from New Haven to New York City and was charged $58.19! When I complained, the desk cut the amount billed in half, but still I was badly gouged. It must be Marriott's corporate policy to discriminate against the aged by cheating them when they can get away with it like on telephone use. I have traveled all over the world for many, many years on business and pleasure and have flown between 750,000 and a 1,000,000 air miles. Never before have I been so taken by a hotel! I will never stay at a Marriot again. -

Everything went smoothly, from check-in to check-out. Within walking distance of Admissions Office at Yale (maybe six blocks or so), so met out purposes nicely. Don't expect Starbucks in nearby Barnes & Noble to be open for breakfast; ate at Educated Burgher instead and that was fine substitute with bit more local flavor, so to speak. Don't have wireless, but ethernet worked well with my laptop.

Short visit to see daughters in NY City. Rather than go into the City I stayed in New Haven and they took the train to see me. Went to Foxwoods and toured the museums and art centers at Yale. Champagne at Blakes (recommended by the friendly and helpful staff) was wonderful.
