This hotel was a disappointment for me because it is not very clean. Everything is old and worn. We stayed over the New Year holiday. The trip was enjoyable for the people in our group who wanted to ski, and they were willing to overlook the condition of the property. The heating units in the rooms were so loud that it was impossible to sleep. The restaurant food is mediocre. My impression is that they turn over the rooms so fast and they are so busy that there is no way to keep things nice and clean. Avoid the New Year's Buffet if you have a chance--it is like eating at a college cafeteria.

Hotel had the basic amenities: we stayed in a two room (separate bedroom) which was a fairly clean room, had cable TV, and a sofa that would pass for a piece of college dorm room furniture. Biggest advantage - great location - the room was walking distance to the slopes. But....if you're looking for upscale don't look here. Pricing was inconsistent (over the phone versus at the desk), the rooms had thin walls, no closets, the wall mounted ""Murphy bed"" we slept on was worn out, the small table (due to space limits) had to be folded down from the backside of the Murphy bed (a pain), and to top it off the ventilation within the room was stuffy. The family slept one night and woke up the next morning with stuffy noses - probably from the chemicals used to clean the carpets. We left after one nights stay. I noted that this hotel is rated 3 stars -- hard for me to understand why. I would rate this as a great place for hard core skiers and college students to hang out -- but not a place to lay back and enjoy the amenities of an advertised ""resort hotel."" Lasr comment....the whirlpool located in the pool area was very small and inoperative. It would be pushing it to rate the hotel as two stars.

Our stay at Wisp was a quiet one, which was fine with us. This was the perfect stopping point between West Virginia and Washington, DC. The layout of the room was odd, but it worked for us. The bedroom was actually a separate room which was nice. There was also a murphy bed in the small living room area. The tv had a good selection of channels too. The bathroom was clean, well stocked with towels, with plenty of hot water. Also had good water pressure and a nice shower spray. And as odd as it sounds, I was happy to see that the bathroom had real toilet paper! Nice place to stay.
