A good deal, but watch the front desk staff

We booked this hotel for a weekend family trip to the Corpus Christi beaches. Our room was the last room on the ground floor, tucked back across from vending machines and the ice machine. The backdoor to the vending area was propped wide open, creating a security issue where someone could sneak into the hotel area without passing by the front desk. However, it was so hot thanks to the ice/vending machines that you needed the door propped open for ventilation. The outside noise was minimal which was surprising, although any exterior noise might have been drowned out by the room's air conditioner. The room was reasonably clean, although there were minor problems. The security latch on the door and towel hook were both loose -- good thing I had my Swiss Army knife. Other minor cosmetic issues, but overall okay. We didn't get to use the pool since we spent our time at the beach, but it looked nice. The only drawbacks are its distance from the beaches and downtown Corpus Christi, its tricky access on the feeder road at the I-37/358 interchange near Leopard St., and its proximity to a busy freeway which might raise some security issues. Problems rose 3 days after the trip when the hotel billed my credit card even though I had prepaid through the travel agency. When I called the travel agency to get the double-billing corrected, they wanted me to submit a letter with a copy of my bank statement. I wasn't going mail any bank statements and wait 2 weeks for my money to be refunded! I told the travel agent that it was THEIR responsibility to call the hotel and straighten out the problem, and that I . Well, they called the hotel and straightened it out. Make sure hotel staff knows its prepaid!

We enjoyed our stay at this very clean, quiet hotel. The cleaning staff was especially outgoing and helpful. We got an excellent price, the pool was fun, would have loved to have used the hot tub but it was very dirty. Standard continental breakfast.

I was at first dismayed and very unhappy to find that the hot tub was NOT functioning. One of the things we were most looking forward to was a nice long soak in the hot tub. However, the staff person who checked us in said that the Whirlpool suite was available, and he'd give me 'good price' on it. My husband is a big guy, and we wondered if we'd be able to use it together. Happily, we were both able to fit with room to spare, (he's 6'5" and I'm 5'8") and it was no doubt better than the hot tub would have been. We felt the room was drab, but certainly clean, and the bed was ok. The breakfast provided was something you'd probably better skip... it was cold, stale and the miniature omletts obviously something pre-fabbed. Yuck. However, on check out, we found the staff again very pleasant, and helpful. Kudos on that - for sure! We did indeed get a VERY good price and would not hesitate to go there again!

We arrived a little earlier than check in time but one of the staff members (a young one, mind you) told us about some near by attractions we should check out. When we came back there was an older lady that was quite annoying. The rooms were spotless the pool was great, the free breakfast was yummy, but besides that one staff girl the rest of them do NOT know what customer service is! "
