My husband and I were looking for a nice weekend getaway and the location was good for our first night away from home on the way to where we were heading. It was the only hotel listed for Kalkaska on the online travel agency website. We took a more expensive room because we wanted the King size bed. The bed was the best feature in the whole room. I do have to say that the air conditioner worked well too and the room was a comfortable temperature for us. However, the hotel was pretty old and run down looking, especially our room. The bathroom fixtures looked like something out of the 60's. The absolute worst thing was the shower. The temperature was constantly fluctuating from cold to very hot without touching a thing! It was awful. We found after arriving in Kalkaska that there were also two other hotels, one of which didn't look any better than the one we stayed in but one of which definitely looked far superior. If we EVER decide to spend the night in Kalkaska again, we will definitely try the another hotel instead.

Very nice small place to stay. I could park right infront of my room. It was very nice to have wired and wireless internet in the room. Beds were really good (best I have seen so far in hotels). Staff was very friendly. Cheaper than lot of hotels in Traverse City.

Everything in the place was permeated with smoke. I was planning to stay two nights, but could not take it any more.The pillows and bed spread had obviously not been washed. They stunk! Regardless of whether you rent a smoking or non-smoking room, the room doesn't have to smell like that. The shower curtain was always in the basin - there was no tub. The curtain was badly stained and I wasn't comfortable taking a shower. I won't go back there. The price was $* per night - I would not stay if it were $* / night.
