  First let me say this is a park location. Those people negatively commenting on the rooms not being 5 star should visit else where than a National Park location. We loved Mckinley Chalets. We are local Alaskans and took the Alaska Rail Road package trip. Our room was down the hill behind the main hotel in one of the Chalets. The rooms have a large seating/ living area in the front with a hide a bed sofa, table with 2 chairs and a nice window. The bathrooms have been remodeled and are very nice and include a huge shower that is level with the floor. The sink vanity is located in the bedroom, which is separated from the living room by a door. Bedroom includes full size bed and one twin, Tv, and a closet area. There is steep hill to get up to the main hotel but they have shuttle that picks up every 10 mins. Excellent dining, spendy though. Tour desk was great! Did a hike tour and river rafting. This hotel is also the hub for tour pick ups so is a great location. Will definitley stay again.

  We were on the upper level. Beautiful setting, but budget room. No A/C only window with very heavy drapes. No Air flow with the drapes closed. We were lucky. It was cloudy with some light rain, little bright sun Glad to have the fan in the bedroom. It was moldy with marginal double bed. Carpet was dark multicolor and show very little dirt. If you have any respiratory problems, allergies or asthma you would have problems in these "Chalets". If the sun was shining with temperatures in the 80's the room. would be very warm during the day. Yes the evenings can be cool, but you must leave the drapes open to get the cool air. Rooms need to be redone with much better bedding and towels. Also it would be great if some type of AC was put in to get rid of the humidity in the room. I would not book these rooms. I would pay more for better property
