Felt like the barracks I lived in while with the Navy in school. Luckily I didn't have to live with 3 other people this trip. The room was clean and presentable though minimalistic. The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling and was so dusty that no smoke could possibly get to the ancient detector (at least 5- 10 years old); major neg. No iron or board to press out the wrinkles from packing; minor neg. The wall hanger in restroom for your ditty bag or wet towel fell to the floor with the slightest nudge; minor neg. The florescent lights above the desk were so loud and annoying, not to mention that only one bulb was lit and after I looked at the unit to see if it had two, found the second one unplugged, with good reason, plug it in and it blinks on and off with an odd huuuummm-CLICK; minor neg. They do have a good selection of TV and WIFI at decent speeds; BIG plus for WIFI. For the most part quiet and the DAY staff is courteous, night staff has attitude. Another big plus is that it's minutes away from airport and LOTS of what this area of Penn has to offer. If you go there in Sept/Oct, find "Hawk Mountain Preserve" (look it up on the WWW). Plan on an entire day of hiking if that's your trip. Over all, great price for a single room and like I said in the beginning, a place to crash.

During our stay, there was construction on a shopping center going on behind the hotel. One day, there was no water for most of the day, and another, there was no power. The hotel staff came around with a flashlight, asking if we would be checking out or staying another night. I informed them that we would be checking out... later than 12 since we had no power to the alarm clock to wake up on time. None of the travelers were offered a refund. The rooms were also tiny and not very sound-proof on either side and especially above.

We were very happy with our stay at the Microtel Inn. It is very clean, quiet, and great value as you get a deluxe breakfast for free, long distance calls are free and we got upgraded to a brand new room with 2 queen beds. The service was excellent. Overall, I am very happy with the Microtel and would definately stay again.

My room was entered with key during the night. The extra lock stopped the intruder. I called the front desk and they didn't come. I felt very unsafe and left the hotel. The floor felt damp and smelled musty. Microtel would not refund my money for that night or the next night, so I had to pay to stay somewhere else. I won't stay at a Microtel again
