We visited Newport News for our son's graduation at Fort Eustis. We had a very pleasant experience with our hotel. The employees were very friendy, courteous and professional. The room was super clean. The room size was small but sufficient. As with most hotels we had to ask for more towels and washcloths. The room was equipped with a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, tv, fridge and microwave. The bed was queen size and very comfortable. The price for the room was excellent. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast also. After our experience with Microtel I would stay at one again and recommend it to my friends and family. We just made a trip to Savannah, GA and stayed at a very well known name hotel. This Mircotel was much nicer by far in all areas. I can't say enough about how nice everyone was and how nice our stay was! Thank you Newport News and Microtel for a great experience!

Not so nice
05/13/2009Very small hotel with very dirty carpet. room also very small. will never stay at a microtel again. will stay home if i can't afford more than this.

Stayed here while I was on vacation and was happy with the room. The single rooms are small but are fine for just one person. The bathroom was a nice size and very clean. Only problem I had was that the beds were very firm and it was difficult for me to sleep on. Some may enjoy this type of mattress so it's a matter of opinion. There was a very comfortable window seat which was nice to relax on. The entire room was very clean when I first checked in. Unfortunately I missed the maid each day because if you have your do not disturb sign up in the morning, they do not come back to you. Even though I was alone, I did not feel unsafe in the hotel. The outside doors were only unlocked with your room key and there was always someone at the front desk watching the front door. There was no noise in the hotel which made for a peaceful stay. If it weren't for the types of mattresses they use, I would stay here again.

Nasty room
01/08/2008Got there late after traveling, checked in, ran up the street to grab a bite to bring back to room and eat, had not even unpacked car, pulled sheets back ...
Got there late after traveling, checked in, ran up the street to grab a bite to bring back to room and eat, had not even unpacked car, pulled sheets back and what did I find a bed full of hair and stains. Immediately went down stairs and requested money back. Clerk acted dumbfounded. She called manager and he said for us to come back following day to get money. Went across street to Best Western where we were treated very well. And got a room that was a suite for only 10 dollars more and way nicer and extremely larger. Return to Microtel next day to get money and was told not to give it to us. Management very crooked. Pass this one up people.

*NOTHING WAS REALLY WRONG WITH MY EXPERIENCE. THE FRONT DESK HELP WAS EXCELLENT BEING AS THOUGH IM FROM OUTTA TOWN, HE TOLD WHERE TO GO AND GET THE DISCOUNT BOOKLET TO GET MY ROOM CHEAPER..THEY WERE EXCELLENT. THEY GAVE US DIRECTIONS TO GREAT PLACES...IM COMING BACK...WHAT ABOUT YOU?
