Lobby was clean; staff was courteous. Kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Room was clean and adequate; nothing fancy but fine. Bathroom had a toilet with a broken handle; would not flush at all. It's impossible for the cleaning service to adequately clean/service the room and NOT notice the broken toilet! We got into our room very late at night and discovered the toilet problem after the kids were already dressed for bed. Didn't want to ask to switch rooms that late at night under the circumstances. The staff did give us a 20% discount on the room rate, however. The complimentary breakfast was good and we enjoyed the waffles, biscuits and gravy, sweet rolls, juice, milk, etc. The very long road leading to the hotel had not been plowed after a snowstorm, and even with 4WD we were sliding a bit. Overall, we were pleased with the hotel. Would have been 4 star if not for the toilet situation. We'll be staying here again this weekend. Good place for a good price.

The front desk was welcoming and helpful when we had trouble with the heating. They responded quickly and efficiently. The experience was wonderful it was close to all the places we needed to visit while in town. The hotel was great and we would stay again.

Decided to visit Fairbanks at the spur of the moment during peak season (July4th)...found the Comfort Inn via Travelocity. Decent price for prime-time, secluded-yet easy access to main thoroughfare, pool for kids, and a great breakfast in the morn (enjoyed listening to the variety of cultures congregated there in the a.m.: Germans, Japanese, etc). Room was clean (altho a bit dated) and the staff was extremely helpful- kudos to the General Manager. One of the highlights was a paved walking trail located right across the street...which leads down to the river- we watched a family of 3 beavers busily making their home. In fact, just 10 feet away the big daddy or big momma was busily knawing down a tree! Quiet night's stay. Overall a very pleasant respite.

Even on the third floor there's a slight odor of cigarette smoke. Smoking rooms are on first floor. Hallway windows are screwed shut thus the odor stays trapped in carpeting. Put towel at the base of your door to keep stale stink of cancer sticks out.
Pool and hot tub are small and can get crowded quick if there are kids around. Open till midnight, kids out by 10:30pm.
Basic breakfast with the usual pastries, bagels and the like. Fresh baked goods but the fruits are mostly bruised up.
Choose a room on the third floor facing the north (left) side of the hotel if you like to sleep with the window open. The other side has the heat pump that comes at regular intervals.
Good place to stay with your dog. *$ a night extra. Walking path towards 1st Avenue that crosses a footbridge and follows the Chena river for a long while. The bridge comes out behind the Pioneer Park's back entrance.
Recommended, can be a little youth oriented on Friday night stays. You know, late teens partying in Fairbanks.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Overall the hotel and grounds are clean though not impeccable.
Great value for the money. -
