My boyfriend and I stayed a weekend at this hotel while he was attending a nearby university. The grounds are lovely, and the hotel according to it's front entrance way was the recipient of a Hotel of the Year award inside its own chain a few years ago. The entire hotel seems to be quite new and the foyer and reception areas are tastefully decorated. They have a pool in the lower level of the hotel, however I never saw it personally close up, only through a window while enjoying the surprisingly well kept grounds. There is also an adorable fountain that is illuminated in the nighttime hours with a nice walkway out to it through the front garden area. We went in the early fall, and the employees had decorated the port and around the front doors with pumpkins, mums and scarecrows, giving it a very welcoming feeling. My only caution is the area in which the hotel is situated. St. Johnsbury is -very- limited in attractions, and Montpelier is a good 30 miles to the West, which by driving time takes about 45-50 minutes. If you need something to keep you entertained for a long period of time, I would not recommend this town be your stop. If, however, going out for a casual dinner and a movie is alright for you, then this is the perfect choice.

It is evident the staff takes pride in a clean hotel. The lobby floor was mopped in the evening - don't see that often! The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was good but the attendent was obviously a fill-in...........spilled cereal wasn't cleaned up promptly. The price is on the high side for me but my wife was very happy so I can let that slide. The landscaping was beautiful with mums and fall decorations. Altogether a great experience.
