  dont stay here. i have stayed in other heartland inns and thought this one would be ok..it wasnt..the front desk was less than professional, the rooms smelled, the television was very old. there was about 10 channels, there was a small pool and no hot tub. this hotel is not worth the price.

  Have stayed here twice and was very impressed both times. Large, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Great location next to highway. Lots of small touches that you don't normally see at a motel in this price range. We will definitely stay here again.

  I have stayed at 3 Heartland Inns in the Ames/Ankeny/Des Moines area and have never had a bad experience. It is a great value for the price. The staff is genuinely friendly and caring. But, the Ames location does need cosmetic updating. It should help to draw in more people. If I didn't know how nice it was inside, I wouldn't stop just judging from the exterior.
