We have been going to the Reef for years. However, on a most recent trip we found the customer service had gone way down. First of all the maid staff for the most part is not friendly and what was once an eager to please staff is not very caring....our room was sandy and unswept for almost four days. There is no longer a full time place to dine upstairs. They have turned the old gift shop into a dinner that is terrible at best. During a recent visit 20 children (not guests at the hotel) were at the main pool for four hours and upon complaining to the staff I was asked why I couldn't just walk down to the other pool. Drain cap on the main pool was off in the deep end for most of our stay so my children could not swim in the deep end of the pool. Baby pool had a broken motor and hadn't been cleaned in weeks so my children could not use that pool either. Also, a bit scary was the bulldozer that cleaned the beach in the morning. the manager doesn't care if you come back.......and I was told so to my face.....that must be why they get all of their money upfront. For the amount of money you will spend you should take it somewhere else where the guests are appreciated. If you stay here you will have to wait on yourself for your entire vacation.

Great place, nice land scaping, beautiful ocean view, love the nightly music entertainment you'll need water shoe to enter the beach water that was rather stony, sand on the beach is nice and fluffy. nice and very helpful staff.I was able to do laundry that cas convenient, I felt pretty much at home except our room could use a little dining table instead of the pot of plant. Thanks for a great stay.

we were looking for a secluded beach resort and we found it at the reef. The resort is clean, safe and very friendly. exceptional snorkeling right at the door step. beach bar staff is great and very very friendly. we did all inclusive pkg., the restaurant menu is somewhat limited but it is all good. went ti georgetown once to shop, very crowded to say the least. if you want to stay in seclusion, stay at the reef.

My wife and I spent 5 days and nights at the Reef in mid June and we both loved it. The wait staff and concierge staff were both excellent. Yes, the East end is more difficult to get to, but we enjoyed the scenery. We rented a car at the airport (right hand drive, auto transmission) and found driving on the left to not be that awkward. It was worth the trip. I spent two mornings diving with Red Sail Sports and my wife spent two mornings in the spa. We both enjoyed the Power snorkle trip available at the Reef and the Friday afternoon trip to Stingray City was the highlight of the trip. We took a mini-bus from the Reef to Rum Point and a short boat ride from there. A great trip and we have already talked about returning with our grown children and their significant others.

  • Not worth the drive time, stay in town!

I have no idea how this resort was rated a 4.8 out of 5. I am sure, this resort cannot compete with the Ritz Carlton or Westin on Seven mile beach, which also got a high rating. These reviews are somewhat inflated. My wife and I enjoy staying on the unbeaten path, but there is really not much to do around the resort unless you just want to sit on the beach or next to the pool. Rum point is not far from the resort, which was a highlight of our trip. I liked our rooms. The one bedroom (side A) provides a full kitchen. This came in handy due to the cost of food is quite expensive. The food at the resort was terrible for the cost. The pizza, seafood, and hamburgers are definetly not worth the dollar. If you plan on playing tennis, this is not the place to do so. The beach is not bad, but is very difficult to get in and out the water as the rocks are just a few steps into the water. Walk down to the Morrit's resort and get in at their beach. The snorkling is much better and fish more abundant. My wife and have traveled to many places and I would not recommend this resort. Staying on the more secluded side of the island was not worth the money, as we found ourselves going into town almost everyday that takes 45 minutes to drive. If it is windy on the east side (where the resort is located), you will find yourself trying to escape to the west side (George Town, seven mile beach). We enjoyed our time together, but would not stay here again. Don't miss stingray city! This was an experience of a life time. Book early!
