The property is over all a nice place with a quaint, 1950's sort of feel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and you get to know them well because the place is so small. The breakfast included with the stay was quite nice. The other meals...not so good. The pool is small but was not too busy during our stay so it was fine. The views of the sea are lovely. The rooms are BASIC. There are NO HAIR DRYERS which I found a problem since I dont ever pack one anymore. The king size bed was 2 twins pushed together and made separately :-( However, the king in our friends' room was actually a king. They are quite stingy with the air conditioning and the open air lobby was very warm at night. The room gets hot because the housekeeping staff turns the a/c off when they come in to make your room. All that said, we enjoyed it fine and spent our money on outings instead of a fancy accommodation since all we really did was sleep and shower there.

Spent 7 nights in early December 2008 w/my daughter. Booked an ocean view room and got a outstanding price. Room was clean, comfortable, great view of the pool & beach. Although the hotel is on the beach, you actually walk down from their ""deck"" to the sand and water. This is a plus since you can catch some rays and not get sandy. Dover Beach is very nice and doesn't have too much of a problem with pesky vendors. Location is perfect for a short walk to St Lawrence Gap & the club scene. They have a small open bar/restaurant with a modest (and inexpensive) menu. The manager of the bar is top notch. If you want to do day trips.. their booker, will do her best to get you everything you need at a fair price. This is a modest hotel, no fancy frills, clean and comfortable. We'll be going back for the fishing tournaments in March-April and booking Dover! Their security guy roams the property and keeps his eyes open once the sun goes down.

We stayed 7 nights for our 25th Anniversary and had a wonderful time. We were fortunate to be upgraded to an ocean front room on the 2nd floor - the view was breathtaking! The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The only downside was the ongoing construction to the bar/restaurant that never seemed to be making any progress. The room was very clean as was the hotel itself. The pool area and sundeck area seemed littered at times, but that is due to the guests not picking up after themselves! Overall, had a great experience and would stay again!

I thought when you go away on vacation, the hotel is suppose to look and feel better than your home. The beds were uncomfortable. We slept on two hard (not even firm) military twin size mattresses pushed together. The sheets and comforters were stained. The furniture was old and abused. There were no curtains for some of the windows. The staff were not pleasant. Some of the staff acted as if they didn't want to serve or assist you. We had to check out early. We booked the room for 6days, 5 nights and we had to check out the 3rd day. I just did not like the enviroment at all. To what I saw on the site to what I seen in person was totally different and upsetting. I was and still is very disappointed.
