This is an old hotel...that's why it cheap. if all you need is a place to sleep then and not a full resort, this will work well for you. the grounds and pools are very nice. some complain because they don't want to pay $$$ but expect a full resort...that's not what you'll get here. but the rooms are clean and are ok. it is comparable to a off of highway older motel on the mainland.

My rating of "would stay here again" is based mostly on the price and location. Truth be told however, I've been in much nicer Motel 6's. The things the hotel really lacked was a microwave (in room or lobby would be fine), WiFi, and an in room safe. Parking is a bit of a walk no matter which room you have. The pool is only open from 9:00 AM til 6:00 PM. The buildings are really old and in need of a remodel, but not in disrepair. The window unit A/C takes forever to cool the room and by morning you will be freezing. Do not expect any luxuries here. What you can expect is a clean bed and bathroom, and a quiet stay. The dining area in the lobby is actually really charming, too bad no food is served there.

Basic Hotel...I like the 50's feel of it. Staff was very friendly, room was clean, nothing fancy but well worth the price. Hotel restaurant is out of business but there are plenty of options a block away. Staff directed me to great seafood place.

I and my wife had a 2 week stay at the Kauai Sands, First off if you need a place to hang your hat for your stay this is a great place. If your looking for 5 stars better pony up the bux and stay at a marriot. This is a quaint and quiet place to rest and relax. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. Lets face it, when you go to Kauai, the last thing you really should do is stay at the hotel there are too many things to see and do during your stay. All you need is a place to sleep and this place fits the bill. Okay so here are some downers Internet access (But there is some just down the road.) Pools open after 6PM Ocean is a bit rough for swimming. And the good points are. Great ocean view clean room. Helpful and very friendly staff very quiet location. easy access to main highway. variety of eateries within walking distance.
