Hotel and staff was friendly, but hotel under renovation & was not advised before or after booking last May - disappointing. Will be very nice when finished, but not good to wake up in the morning to jackhammer. The location, pools (one was closed) and view was great. Did not like the food in the lobby restaurant at all - go somewhere else - plenty of choices. Spa & fitness center closed, but used desert spa at del arco - fantastic!

The Villa del Palmar was ok. The location to the beach and downtown was great. I was turned off by the aggressiveness of the timeshare sales, the hidden "service tax", the obnoxious music by the pool, noise from the construction. I had called prior to my vacation and was told that ALL pools would be open and construction would be completed by August 8th. That was incorrect we heard the sounds of construction every day and one of the pools was clossed (the one pool we were actually looking forward to). We made a point of preparing our own food or eating downtown because the prices at Vill del Palmar are bit high--especially for drinks when it is not happy hour. I did like the neighboring hotel- Villa Del Arco which was clean, modern, and had a great gym(plus the pool didn't have obnoxious music blaring). I think I'm most irritated by the "service tax". They should just pay the "behind the scenes" staff a decent wage rather than sticking it on guests in a hidden service tax. I will NOT be staying here again. The fitness facility at the Villa del Palmar was closed so the rating below is for the gym at Villa del Arco.

If you're going to hang out by the pool avoid this resort. Starting June 12th, the main pool is closed and under construction. The estimate 2 months, but I am sure it wll be longer. (On Mexican Time) Anyway if you go expect big 8 foot plywood walls, power tool noise, hammering, and alot of concrete dust in the air. Management is not worried if you will ever come back or tell your friends. They should be...

I'm reading lots of reviews in which people are complaining that the resort is expensive. Yes it is. You KNEW that when you got on the plane to Los Cabos International. Resorts in Mexico (Cabo, specifically) are extremely high end and thus, extremely expensive. If you want cheap, go to Gary, IN; they also have a beach. For the food, it was more than what I expected. Having never been to Mexico, I figured lots ofn spicy and ethinc cuisine. This is not true. I ate New Zealand lamb chops and Australian lobster tail at Arcos. Yes, i paid a bit out of pocket, on top of the meal plan (Which is an absolute must), but it was what? 6, A bucks for Lobster. 6 bucks extra for Lamb. Fine with me. The pool area is sweet. For the kids, there is a warmer, louder pool with a slide and for the adults, a quiet, cooler pool up top. The drinks are good and easy to get to and a cab ride to the marina (very fun place to go) is 5 minutes and 3 dollars. The staff was more than helpful with every question and issue. My cup was never empty, nor was my stomach. The room was magnificent and had an unparalelled view of the ocean. It was quiet and calm and had ESPN! I watched the White Sox play the Twins from 3000 miles south! I warn that the ocean tends to be extremly dangerous there (waves were getting to 15/20 feet). I suggest staying up on the beach and by the pool. Do the watersports and spend the extra money to swim with dolphins. All and All, the place is fantastic and I WILL be back.

Just got back from a 12 day stay @ the VIlla Del Palmar in Cabo. The resort was beautiful........ and the view of Lands End/ Los Arcos was breathtaking. The rooms were immaculate and service was friendly. The food at the 2 restaurants was OK. ....a little pricey............ but there are so many restaurants in Cabo that it wasn't an issue. There is a great little grocery store and deli in the complex that was extremely convenient ... and the food was great. We had an efficiency.. with a refrigerator and stove...... which was very convenient.... so we made a couple of trips to the local grocery stores and Wal-Mart for breakfast foods and drinks which saved some $$. The mini bar contents are extremely expensive. The time share sales people were relentless! The girls in the lobby snag you when you are checking in and don't leave you alone............ calling the room daily and following you when you enter and exit the lobby. We finally gave in and went to the presentation which was supposed to be 75 minutes but ended up being 2 1/2 hours. It was painful to say the least! We didn't buy of course... but did get the "Gold Card" which allowed a 10% discount @ the resort restaurants/ bars. deli and grocery store. Getting into town requited a taxi or water taxi.......... . There is a city bus which travels into downtown for much less but it was a rather long walk out to the main road to get it. Change you American $$ into Pecos and you will find that eveything was a little less expensive.
