I stayed at this establishment while visiting my daughter in November 2009 because of how close its website said it was to Manhattan, NY. However upon arriving, we only then realized that NYC was about an hour's drive into the city, and even longer if we wanted to take public transportation. Check-in was OK, although the girl seemed as if she didn't know what she was doing. I reserved a room with 2 beds and she gave us a room with one bed. I had to go all the way to the lobby to switch to another room which REEKED of cigarettes, even though the hotel "prides" itself with being 100% smokefree. We had to switch again, and the room wasn't anything special, definitely needs updating. The remote didn't work, but they sent someone to the room this time to replace it. The breakfast was ok too, if you dont mind eating with about 50 RUDE foreign people (possibly French). They pushed and shoved you out of the way and there wasn't a square inch of room to eat your breakfast in. The website claimed a 24 hour shuttle to the train station which my husband and I requested, but were left waiting about 45 minutes for. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing stay and I would NEVER recommend this establishment to anyone, especially because it is so over-priced as well.

Nice hotel overall, the beds felt much smaller than other hotels we have stayed at. We had two queen beds but there is also a sofa-bed. The breakfast was nice and included pretty much everything from juice, coffee, bagels, a variety of cereals, muffins, waffle maker, and even sausage and egg biscuits. Staff was very corteous. However, our purpose for the trip was to check out NY and attend a wedding but we were far from the NY sights and had to take the NJ transit which for a first timer took a while to figure out so I am taking off points for location. The fact that the hotel was non-smoking all the way through was a relief as we are very sensitive. There is a gym downstairs which I didnt have the chance to use but looked really nice and there is a room with internet and computer with wireless in the rooms I believe. Comes with an ironing board, iron and hairdryer...and if you forget any toiletries, they have them available at the front desk. So they have definitely covered the basic important things. Overall a very good hotel for the price.

We waited until we got to Newark to get a hotel. This hotel offers shuttle service from the airport and once in the clean town of Avenel, shuttle service to the train station and also to local restaurants if needed. We did not have a car as due to flight cancellations due to weather lost our rental car and there were no more available. I think we did well without one. We home-based here and traveled to New York during the day. It was a bit much I guess but the last time I was in New York the more reasonable hotels maybe weren't that safe for my daughter and I. This hotel is very well run, clean, with terrific service, large room, nice breakfast. Everything is top notch and I thought quite reasonable. My son stayed with us a couple of times, there was a hide-a-bed couch (he lives in Newark). We used the hotel shuttle at least twice per day. Only had one problem when driver went by us (he had actually dropped us off at this restaurant so knew where it was), we had to call again and he had on some filthy worded "music" on the radio.

We were just looking for a place to stay one night, to break up a 6 hour trip in the car. It was a basic room, not a suite. Though, it had a mini fridge and coffee pot. The room and bathroom were very clean. The continental breakfast was better than expected. It even had a waffle griddle and batter to make your own. I had advised them we would be arriving late, 10 pm. I called from the road to tell them it was more like 11 pm, and there were no problems.
