we wernt sure what we were expecting when we got to joplin and saw the sign for the hotel it looked crapy and then as we turned on the road to the hotel and saw where the sign was at and it was beautiful we took pics of our room we just loved it the man at the desk was awesome and nice the pool area was really hot but still nice the pool had seats or something in it like a hot tub would and the beds were awesome we got a two bed room and we still had plenty of room to put up my son play pin for his bed the bathroom was amazing also and very clean the window in the room had a bed like or bench like seat on it i sat on that just about the whole time i was there i watched tv on it used my computer ate some pizza my son also seemed to love the room he was all over the place there were plenty of wall outlets so we didnt have to unplug anything to charge our phones or the computers i was very impressed with this place the beds were awesome too the comforters wernt scratchy they were plush and fluffy as we were leaving the guy who had checked me in was still there and i talked to him for a min and i ended in saying i would deffenatly be coming back oh and the mall if just a few blocks away and it is awesome huge the hotel is in a perfect location food nice resturants stores the whole stay even for just the one night was amazing i totally recomind it

No frills but good where it really counts. Did not have hair dryer, shampoo & lotion amenities but you could buy a lot of your own with what you save here. Room was small but sufficient, clean, very comfortable bed and temp. control. Courteous employees. Easy access to hiway and restaurants, and the Downstream Casino where I saw CCRv in concert, only 8mi. away. Senior discounts available also.

I stayed at the Microtel for two nights in March 2009, in Joplin, Missouri. I have since recommended it to several family members. I am making reservations to stay again. Everyone was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. It was close to shopping and restaurants. I am a single lady who travel with a chihuahua.

For the location, and price, this is a decent hotel. It is a bare minimum hotel, but has everything you need for a night or two. Beyond that length of time, I would pay a little more for more comfort and a larger room.

We lost power, in our all electric home, from the May 10, 2008 Tornado. We decided that we would stay in a motel while the power was being restored. The Electric company said that it may take a week to get power back up. We chose Microtel as we had stayed with them before when a similar situation happened 3-4 years ago. We stayed Sunday nigh (5-11-2008) and since the electric company still said it may be a week before we had power, we request a 2nd night. We were going to go night by night if need be. So we made the request about 7am and it was fine with the desk clerk. At about 11:45 I called home to see if the answering machine would answer and it did! We had power again and won't need the motel room that night. I drive to Microtel on my lunch hour and just a bit after 12 noon I check out. The clerk charges us for Sunday night that we stayed, and for Monday night that we had just reserved a few hours before. We missed the 11am check-out by an hour and 20 minutes. Now, IF the room had been serviced by housekeeping before I gathered our things and checked out, I'd say that was legitimate though unreasonable. However Housekeeping may have been in the room, the towels weren't changed, the sheets were on the floor, the trash cans unemptied etc. So Housekeeping could STILL ready the room quite easily for a new guest. I asked the clerk to remedy the situation, and he "calls" the manager. He said the best they could do was give me a $8 refund on the unused 2nd night. Its doubtful we'll stay there again.
