We stayed at the Spruce Point Inn for a family function. The main building of the resort is located on a beautiful point facing the harbor with other buildings and cabins throughout the area to stay. If you do not stay in the main area, you will not have a view of the ocean - just beware. We participated in a few of the offerings on site- the yoga class was fun, and the massage was wonderful! They offer kayaking and bikes, and there are 2 pools located on the grounds. The decor/items in the house where we stayed could use a little updating, but it was still cozy and felt very "cabiney." We ate breakfast in the main restaurant and had wonderful lobster benedict and blueberry pancakes. I recommend the pancakes, they were delicious!!! We attempted to have dinner one evening, but had trouble being served. My group of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) sat at our table for 30 minutes and finally got up and left after being ignored by the staff around us. The rest of the family that remained in the restaurant also had issues getting correct orders, or their meals with the rest of the group at each table. The restaurant was not full, but it seemed like the wait staff was completely slammed. I would recommend staying here for the views and activities, but it might be worth eating in one of the many restaurants offered at Boothbay Harbor if you're hungry for dinner!

It is a very fine inn with a large setting. Excellent pools, landscaping and location on the water. I have not stayed in the main inn but I have been in most of the suites and they are excellent. Cleaning services are good except in the Ocean Houses. Hotel services is okay but somewhat inexperienced due to summer hires from abroad. Moderately expensive but worth it to me -- I need the peace and quiet. Not too far from town. Probably the nicest place in the region in terms of real estate and room quality.

PLUS: The newly renovated rooms use a very small space ingeniously; good storage and they're clean and up-to-date (so are bathrooms). Location can't be beat, roof deck is lovely.MINUS: Beds may be too short for anyone over 5'9""; staff friendly but often harried; rooms have CD players/clock radios which no one knows how to work (no manuals) so they go off - loudly - at all hours and can be heard throughout entire floor. (So, the rooms are far from soundproof - not for honeymooners!) Pickwick was OK - and cheaper - before renovations.

Great views of the ocean, When we were checking in a wedding was in progress. Such a nice place for a wedding. We were there for only one night. We used the hot tub right beside the ocean.. You could hear the waves hitting the rocks. Great balcony off our sitting area. We slept with the door open, and the fireplace lit which was just perfect. Could hear the lighthouse fog horn... But loved it. That is just so Maine.
